Five Lakes Tournament Trail--March 8, Lake GreenwoodThe story of this tournament would have to be the weather. Thirty mile per hour winds were forecast and that plus about ten was what we got. Along with the wind it also rained, hailed, sleeted and the temperature was hovering in the low 40's.If that wasn't enough I had a touch of the flu with a slight temperature, stopped up nose and generally felt nasty. Our fist stop of the day was in Irvans neck where five minutes in, Steve caught the first keeper of the day weighing a pound and a half. I swung and missed twice before we moved to the back of the cove where Steve caught two more the same size as the first while I caught a non keeper. From there we moved back to the where we started the morning and I soon connected on a bass weighing close to two pounds. We then planned to move down the lake to where I had caught fish the weekend prior, unfortunately, someone beat us to it.Not feeling like a long run in the three to four foot swells I pulled into the neck across the lake from Irvans that was somewhat less windy. At the back of the first cove we decided to take a break and ate lunch.Immediately after lunch Steve caught a small non keeper then a small keeper an a crankbait and I caught our biggest fish of the day weighing 4.57 pounds. That was just what I needed to forget about feeling bad and proceeded to catch another eight to ten keeper bass while Steve did the same.We finished the day thirteenth with 14.70 pounds. |
